1.The sender composes an email. This is transmitted in plain text up to the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway.
2.If, due to missing key material or a mandatory read confirmation, GINA is used, this email is encrypted with the AES256 key of the GINA account of the recipient and packed into an HTML container.
a)If no GINA account exists for the recipient’s email address, one will be created. Here, an individual, password-protected AES256 key is generated and stored with the email address of the recipient. The initial password of the generated key is either
I.directly sent to the recipient via SMS to the mobile phone number to be indicated in the subject line of the email (e.g. [sms:0041791234567])
II.sent to the sender via email to be forwarded to the recipient via a secondary communication channel - SMS or telephone (provided that the integrated SMS interface has not been configured).
3.The email encrypted this way is packed into the carrier email and completely delivered to the recipient.
4.The recipient opens the attachment of the carrier email, creating a secure https connection to SEPPmail, and transmits the original message from the attachment of the carrier email. Subsequently, they are asked to enter their initial password, to register and to change the password.
5.After decryption, the message is displayed in the browser via the secure https connection.
