Generally, the devices and communication paths within the internal network should be trusted. This means that all emails are available in the intranet and on the email server in clear text. Mobile terminal devices which are connected to the internal email server, e.g. via ActiveSync, thus communicate over the standard email path. Since the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway is located between the email server and the internet, emails of mobile terminal devices run through the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway and are processed there.

Since the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway is able to process subject line keywords, emails which are sent to mobile terminal devices can be classified correspondingly as well, independently of the manufacturer. To make the input of these keywords at mobile terminal devices more comfortable, in addition to the standard keywords, additional keywords which are used across the entire company can be defined. For instance, using the self-defined keyword <c> in addition to the standard keyword [confidential] is possible for encryption.

There are currently no integral features known for classifying emails on the standard email clients of iOS, Android and Windows Phones. If these are to be implemented in future versions, SEPPmail will also be used for controlling your own solution.
