Load balancing within a cluster can be achieved by several methods. The SEPPmail offers a procedure which is integrated into the appliance. Similarly, the balancing of the load to individual cluster members of a SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway cluster can be realised by external load balancers or load balancing methods. The most common methods are listed below:

•Separation Of The Incoming And Outgoing Traffic
to one cluster member system each. In this case, the forwarding of emails to the other cluster partner(s) is only carried out once the corresponding load status has been reached.
 

•Use Of The Round Robin DNS Procedure
 

•Use Of An External Load Balancer
 

 

The failover behaviour of the cluster is not changed by these configurations.
