When using MS Outlook, the probably most convenient solution is the creation of an email in outlook and the direct delivery of the large file attachments to the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway. Here (with a corresponding configuration), the SEPPmail Microsoft Outlook Add-In separates the file attachments and directly transmits them via a secured channel to the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway (Figure 3, point 1). The actual email itself will then only contain information regarding the attachments (file name, date, size, test sum) in order to have an unambiguous and traceable verification regarding these attachments in the email. The email will then be sent without attachments but with the corresponding information on these attachments to the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway (2). This allows the information on the attachments to be kept even at a later point in time, e.g. with archived emails. The SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway now reunites the original email and the already transmitted attachments and provides the entire message to the recipient via the LFT technology.

This version offers the following advantages:

Maintaining the operational processes since only those tools which are known to the sender (Outlook) are used.

The email server as well as any archive systems that may be connected are spared from having to deal with these large data volumes

LFT messages are visible in the email server logs.

LFT messages remain traceable.
