This screen shows sender addresses that are blocked from sending outgoing messages.

Such blocks can be activated if an abusive sending pattern is detected. This can be, for example, sending to spamtrap/honeypot addresses, sending malware and sending mass mail, or software that automatically sends emails that have a high error/return rate due to a poor quality recipient database.

Typical rejection messages are:

  • Bulk Policy Violation: This sender has been blocked for sending bulk mail.
  • This account is sending spam: This sender has sent mail to a known spam trap/honeypot address.
  • bounce flood: This sender is sending an unusually high number of messages without an envelope sender address.

It is therefore more of an emergency measure. Ideally, such messaging should be stopped at the source.

All entries are created by the SEPPmail support.

anchor link Desired sender behaviour

It is the duty of every sender to respond to email error messages and to rectify the cause of the error. In particular, invalid recipients must be immediately removed from distribution lists and address books and no longer contacted. Invalid addresses may also be converted to spam traps/honeypots at any time.

warning

Note:

It is prohibited to send mass mailing of emails via the seppmail.cloud platform. We recommend using a specialised bulk mail provider for this.

anchor link Consequences of poor sending behaviour

If too many malicious emails are sent, the reputation of the sender and/or the platform suffers. Their domain names or IP addresses may be included in block lists. This leads to mail being rejected or filed in the spam folder instead of appearing in the recipient's inbox. Such problems are very difficult to track and correspondingly time-consuming and expensive to rectify. Blocking the entire platform affects all users, including those of other customers.
