If the protection component provides specific routing functions, outgoing emails can be scanned for viruses on the spam filter before they are encrypted/signed by SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway, if applicable.

Incoming encrypted emails are first sent to the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway for decrypting and then returned to the protection component for a content check. This means that the content of encrypted emails can also be checked by the protection component.

anchor link Attention:

The protection component used must support this configuration since, otherwise, a "mail-loop" would inevitably be created and the email traffic would come to a halt.

If the protection component does not support this routing, a special routing on the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway can provide a replacement under certain circumstances.

Outgoing, the complete email traffic is sent to SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway, which then decides on the basis of the defined criteria whether and how an email should be treated cryptographically.
