Initial situation:

A GINA user experiences repeated connection interruptions when trying to perform actions within the GINA portal.

 

Reason 1:

On mobile devices, especially with iOS, the "user agent" sometimes changes. As a result, requests from the client – that is indirectly the GINA user – can no longer be correctly assigned and the communication breaks off.

 

Solution

Deactivate the option Add the clients user agent to the session protector originator (see Change GINA Settings for Extended Settings).

 

Reason 2:

The GINA portal is provided via several SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateways (see also Clustering Multiple Systems and following). These SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateways use an upstream load balancer.

 

Solution

In the configuration of the load balancer, a fixed assignment of source and destination IP address has to be set up.

This way it is ensured that the requests belonging to a GINA session always reach the same cluster member (see also this warning).
