anchor link Details for sender trust

The handshake symbol empty indicates how much the sender is currently known to the recipient: grey: unknown (first contact), blue: trust result based on the automatic calculation, green: regular exchange or manually set to trusted.

The current status is also shown when you move the mouse over it.

Examples:

grey handshake symbol: sender unknown (no trust)

empty

blue handshake symbol: trust based on automatic evaluation

empty

green handshake symbol: sender known (trusted)

empty

By clicking the plus button, the sender is trusted more for a few weeks. The trust is weighted and regularly adjusted by internal algorithms and the sender's sending behaviour.

Clicking the minus button resets the trust to "unknown". This is especially useful for missed spam messages.

Trust is automatically improved or maintained through regular email traffic. Legitimate incoming messages lead to a slight increase in trust. If a message is answered (or the e-mail traffic is initiated by the customer), the trust is increased more strongly. If no messages are exchanged for a longer period of time, the reputation starts to decrease again.

Even a low trust increases the likelihood that future messages will not be rejected or classified as spam. A high trust disables most of the checks that can lead to rejections, as well as many content checks.

For reasons of data protection and data minimisation, this data is stored in a coded form (one-way hash). A list of known senders and their reputation is therefore not available.

In case of delivery problems of individual senders, we still advise to solve the basic cause on the sender's side instead of manually setting the reputation to "high". If resolution by the sender is not possible, the Welcomelist can also be used, whose entries have longer validity and do not depend so heavily on active mail traffic.
