In this menu, the users present on the SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway are displayed.

Users can be created automatically or manually (see Mail Processing Ruleset generator User creation).

If users are to be set up manually, this is done via the Create new user account button (see submenu CREATE USER ACCOUNT).

Clicking the Password policy... button is used to define the password rules for SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway users (see submenu CHANGE PASSWORD POLICY).

(new in 12.1)

The Advanced settings... button provides advanced functions which are applied to all SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway users (see submenu ADVANCED SETTINGS).

Since the page can take a long time to load in large environments, you can use the option

Limit the number of returned accounts

to limit the display to 1000 user accounts. If applicable, the search for a user would then have to be implemented via the Filter.... The search term is entered as a character string.

(new in 13.0.8)

In addition, via Show all users the list can be filtered for only active or inactive users.

In client-capable systems, the user display is grouped by clients.

Column

Description

anchor link User ID

Displays the "User ID" of the respective user.

For automatically created users, this always corresponds to the email address.

anchor link Name

Displays the name of the respective user.

For automatically created users, this corresponds to the display name of the sender from the From header, if available. Otherwise, the email address is also displayed here.

empty

anchor link Attention:

If, for obtaining certificates, the MPKI interface is active, this name may be displayed as the applicant (CN) of the certificate, depending on the configured certificate quality. In this case, it should be ensured that the correct name is entered for each user when creating them.

In case of SwissSign Gold certificates for a functional mailbox like sales@company-maildomain.com, the CN name shows a leading "pseudo:". Example: "pseudo: sales@company-maildomain.com"

anchor link E-mail

Displays the email address of the user.

anchor link OpenPGP

Displays the number of OpenPGP keys available to the user.

anchor link S/MIME

Displays the number of S/MIME keys available to the user.

anchor link State

Displays the status of the user. This field is usually empty.

For technical users, the status can be set to "inactive" (see submenu USER 'USER@DOMAIN.TLD' User Data Encryption settings May not encrypt mails and May not sign mails). Inactive users are not able to encrypt or sign and therefore do not need a user licence.

For users with a password, the following may also be displayed:

Bad Password count: x

Locked temporarily

depending on the password policies (see submenu CHANGE PASSWORD POLICY) and the number of failed login attempts.

anchor link Last mail sent

Shows the date of the last email sent by the respective user.

Clicking on the User ID opens the submenu with the user details (USER 'USER@DOMAIN.TLD').

empty

anchor link Note:

When setting up the system, the user "admin" already exists. This user does not require a user licence (Encryption/Signature Licence).

We recommend not deleting this user in the further course of the configuration to prevent a "lockout" from the system.
