Initial situation:

The SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway is to be installed in Microsoft Azure.

Question:

Is SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway operable in Microsoft Azure and how can it be installed there?

Answer/solution:

The SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway originally could be obtained from the Azure Marketplace. For various reasons, that VM is no longer supported and only remains available for marketing reasons.

For the installation in Azure nowadays, see the article Spin up a SEPPmail VM in the Azure Portal.

Attention:

Since 04 March 2022, no port 25 activation for Azure subscriptions other than "Enterprise" is provided for new installations. Therefore, an Azure Enterprise subscription is required for installing SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway. Existing installations are not (yet) affected (see also https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/azure/virtual-network/troubleshoot-outbound-smtp-connectivity and/or <%OEM-AZURE-INFO-SITE-URL%>, Heading "GOOD TO KNOW...", "Port 25 for Azure Subscriptions - Activation Required").

In case of doubt, please contact Microsoft Support to ensure port 25 functionality.

A test of the port 25 connection can be carried out via command line (see Rudimentary System Commands "Port probe").

A test via Network Watcher is not helpful in this respect since this test is not executed directly from the hosted system (SEPPmail Secure E-Mail Gateway)!

On the mentioned page there is also a link to the "GitHub Repository", where, if required, a script for the automatic configuration of a Cluster is available.
